Yesterday, the release conference for the 2016 White Paper on Business Environment of Guangzhou sponsored by the People’s Government of Guangzhou and organized by Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Commerce was held in Macao. Xiao Zhenyu, Director General of Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Commerce, said that, to enhance the communication between Guangzhou and Macao in the first year of the 13^th Five-Year Plan period, both sides may launch cooperation based on the carriers of Nansha free trade zone, the platform for business launch by young people and Portuguese-speaking countries.

 

The release conference was held at the Business Promotion Center (19/F) of CCECC Plaza at 10:00am. Diao Ailin, deputy secretary general of the People’s Government of Guangzhou, said that, this year, Guangzhou will further strengthen its roles as an important central city, an international business and trade center as well as a comprehensive transportation hub of China to concentrate the efforts to build the international shipping hub, air transportation hub and science and technology hub, and will make and introduce more policies and measures that can promote the development, transformation and upgrading and cost reduction of the enterprises relying on the city’s advantages derived from the development of “the Belt and Road”, the Nansha pilot free trade zone, the national central city for innovation, the national pilot zone for innovative development of service trade as well as the pilot zone for the reform of the domestic trade flow system. Diao hopes that the local enterprises and multinationals in Macao can make full use of the advantages of Macao and Guangzhou to expand investment in Guangzhou and help the enterprises in Guangzhou to “go global” and expand the Macao and international markets for a win-win result.

 

Take advantage of Nansha Free Trade Zone

 

Xiao Zhenyu said, the White Paper totally consists for eight chapters, including Overview of Guangzhou, Bi-Directional Investment, Investment Promotion Carriers, (China) Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone and (Guangzhou) Nansha Pilot Free Trade Zone, Major Industries, Infrastructure, Investment Environment and Livable Conditions. Since 2016 is the first year for the implementation of the 13^th Five-Year Plan, the beginning of the White Paper includes the section of “Development Strategies and Objectives of the 13^th Five-Year Plan”, aiming to help investors to better understand the development trend in Guangzhou. During the 13^th Five-Year Plan period, Guangzhou will focus on the construction of three strategic hubs, namely the international shipping hub, air transportation hub as well as science and technology innovation hub.

 

He said that, there are several carriers for the cooperation between Guangzhou and Macao. The first one is the Nansha free trade zone, where professional services are available for Macao SMEs engaged in information, science and technology and other fields. The second one is the platform for business launch by young people, which will be a good platform for young people from Macao to start their own businesses and make innovation. Finally, the Portuguese-speaking countries also provide a variety of platforms for the cooperation between both sides.

 

Macao has historical connections with the Portuguese-speaking countries. Through Macao, Guangzhou may expand its communication with these countries and even the whole world, introduce global products to the city and help enterprises in Guangzhou to enter the markets of these countries. In addition, cooperation in business and trade, conventions and exhibitions, shipping, service outsourcing, financial insurance and culture and creativity may be carried out.
